The English Ceramic Circle are delighted to welcome OCS members to their meeting on Saturday 12th January 2019 at 2pm at Kensington Central Library.

The programme includes:

Helen Espir:  “The Atrocious Unsworth:” Chinese blue & white porcelain clobbered in London 1800-1850.

George Haggerty: The potteries of Glasgow, from acorns to oak trees.

Errol Manners: A group of C18th London porcelains looking for a home.

The meetings usually end at around 4.30pm after a cup of tea.

From the Forbidden City: Imperial apartments of Qianlong

The Acropolis Museum in Athens is holding a special exhibition featuring furniture, decorative objects and garments associated with the young prince Hongli, who would become the Qianlong emperor.  Among the objects on show are a monumental portrait by Castiglione, several items of zitan wood, porcelain, jade, gold and silk, a stunning Cox clock and a whole room of Buddhist figures.  The items originate from the Gugong and they have never before been exhibited outside the Forbidden City.  Until 14th February, 2019.
